Sam Palmer has several years professional experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist, including working for a number of years at Guy’s NHS hospital and at the private Lacap clinic in the City of London.


After gaining a psychoanalysis Master’s degree from London Guildhall University in the 1990’s, Sam Palmer went on to complete a full clinical training at the UKCP training organisation The Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR). He continues to be a member of CFAR as part of its management structure, as well as presenting seminars for its public lecture and clinical training programmes.  


Sam has been working as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist since 2003 and has a broad range of experience with a variety of clinical cases. He has worked in hospital settings, private organisations as well as in private practice, and has experience of working with couples, adolescents and adult clients.

I supervise therapists from a variety of modalities and training backgrounds, supporting their clinical work by encouraging creative reflection, exploring transference issues and, where appropriate, giving candid advice regarding concrete clinical challenges. I work with both trainees and the newly qualified, as well as more experienced practitioners.
